Exclusive: Everything Confirmed About Pirots 5 So Far
Last updated: 4 July 2026 · Sourced from ELK Studios' official game page and press assets
The release date is 23 July 2026, worldwide and simultaneous. ELK posted it on the official Pirots 5 page alongside the full feature list. No staggered market rollout this time, which is unusual for the studio.
The bigger news sits in the mechanics sheet. Pirots 5 introduces traps as a core system. Arrows, boulders and shifting floors actively interfere with the birds. The series has never punished movement before. Every previous game only rewarded it.
And one more detail nobody's talking about yet. The Super Bonus buy costs 250x, half the 500x price of Pirots 2 through 4. So either the bonus is weaker or ELK repriced the maths. We'll know on launch day.
Confirmed features
- Cursed Temple coin game behind the secret door
- Catacombs with mummy battles for feature symbols
- Secret door that rotates the entire grid
- Persistent grid, meter and upgrades in the bonus
Still unknown
- Coin denomination ladder and top coin value
- Trap trigger frequency in the base game
Confirmed Pirots 5 Symbols Explained
These come straight from the official press assets. Every symbol below is confirmed for launch.
Captain Blackfeather
The villain. He turns one to four birds into ghosts and recolours their gems into Blackfeather gems.
Mummy
Guards the catacombs. Beat one in battle and it drops a feature symbol as the prize.
Secret Door
Rotates the whole grid, moving every symbol and bird. Clearing the full grid here opens the Cursed Temple.
Boulder Trap
A rolling boulder hazard on the temple floor. Traps interfere with bird paths — a series first.
Arrow Trap
Fires arrows across the grid when triggered. Part of the temple's active defence system.
Portal
Collecting on a catacomb corner drops the bird into the catacombs below the main grid.
Transform
Recolours nearby gems into one colour. The classic series feature returns unchanged.
Nest
Holds hidden value that releases on collection. Expect coins and feature symbols inside.
Bonus
Three collected trigger the bonus game. Grid size and upgrades persist throughout.
Super Bonus
One super symbol among your three triggers upgrades the entry to the Super Bonus.
Max Win Coin
The 10,000x cap coin. Same instant round-ending rule as the rest of the series.
Pirots 5 Demo — Live on Launch Day
The demo unlocks on 23 July 2026, the moment of global release. We've wired the frame below to go live that day. Bookmark this page — the demo appears here with zero sign-up, same as every other game on this site.
Demo play is for players 18+ only. The frame activates at ELK's global release.
Until then, the closest preparation is playing the games it builds on. The bird logic carries over from Pirots 4, and the grid-clearing instincts transfer directly.
Play the Series for RealCaptain Blackfeather: The First Real Villain
He turns your birds into ghosts. That's the confirmed mechanic, and it sounds worse than it is. Ghost birds have their gems converted into Blackfeather gems, changing what the remaining collectors can eat.
The lore reading is fun here. The burnt map reveals both the city of gold and "the location of the traitor". ELK has been seeding this character across the series' loading screens for two years. Long-time players spotted him in the Pirots 4 credits art.
- Affects 1–4 birds per appearance. A four-bird conversion rewrites the whole round.
- Creates Blackfeather gems. A new gem type outside the four bird colours.
- Ties into the Cursed Temple. His curse is the trigger lore for the coin game.
Whether he's net-positive for payouts is the launch-day question. Our bet: he plays like the bandit — disruptive on screen, generous in the maths.
Temple Features and the X-iter Menu
Three headline systems are confirmed. Each one is new to the series.
| Feature | Trigger | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Cursed Temple | Full grid clear during secret door | A dedicated coin game opens |
| Catacombs | Collect on a catacomb corner | Mummy battle for a feature symbol |
| Secret Door | Door symbol collected | Grid rotates, all positions shift |
| Bonus / Super Bonus | Three bonus symbols | Free drops with persistent upgrades |
The X-iter menu returns with a surprise at the top end. Five modes, and the ceiling dropped by half.
| Mode | Cost | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Bonus Hunt | 3x | Over four times the normal bonus trigger chance |
| Modes 2–4 | TBC | Full pricing publishes at release |
| Super Bonus | 250x | Direct Super Bonus entry — half the old 500x price |
That 250x Super Bonus price is the most interesting number on this page. Series veterans budget 500x for top-tier buys. Halving it changes bankroll maths for every buyer in NZ.
Pirots 5 vs the Rest of the Series
Based on confirmed specs only. We'll update this table with RTP and coin data at launch.
| Aspect | Pirots 4 | Pirots 5 | Pirots X |
|---|---|---|---|
| RTP | 94% | 96%! It’s gone up! | 94% |
| Max win | 10,000x | 10,000x | 10,000x |
| Grid | 6x6–8x8 | 6x6 expanding | 5x5–7x7 |
| Core twist | Fire minions | Traps + Blackfeather | Cluster pays |
| Top buy price | 500x | 250x | 500x |
| Status | Live | 23 July 2026 | Live |
While you wait, Pirots 4 is the closest mechanical relative. Pirots X is the wildcard pick if you want something structurally different.

How the Series Got Here: The Road to Pirots 5
Pirots 5 is the sixth game in a series that started as a modest experiment. Knowing the arc helps you guess what the temple chapter will actually play like. Each entry added exactly one big idea on top of the last.
| Game | Year | The new idea |
|---|---|---|
| Pirots | 2023 | Collecting birds — the walk-and-eat mechanic itself |
| Pirots 2 | 2023 | Coin symbols — direct cash values up to 1,000x on the grid |
| Pirots 3 | 2024 | The bandit — a fifth collector who eats any colour |
| Pirots 4 | 2025 | Fire minions — enemies that fight back via Power Clash |
| Pirots X | 2025 | Cluster pays — a spin-off testing a whole new engine |
| Pirots 5 | 2026 | Temple traps — the grid itself becomes the antagonist |
See the pattern? ELK alternates between adding allies and adding threats. The bandit helped you. The minions fought you. Blackfeather and the traps clearly land on the threat side of the ledger, twice over.
The commercial logic matters too. Pirots became ELK's flagship line, and CollectR — the studio's name for the collection engine — now appears in their other releases. A flagship sequel gets the studio's best maths work. That's partly why the halved Super Bonus price is such an interesting signal.
There's a design lesson buried in the trap concept as well. Every earlier game made rounds bigger: more collectors, more features, more grid. Traps are the first mechanic built to interrupt rather than extend. If ELK balances it right, rounds should feel less predictable from the first drop. That's the thing five games of accumulated features had slowly eroded.
Our bet, for what it's worth: Pirots 5 plays closest to Pirots 3, with traps replacing the bandit as the round-shaping wildcard. We'll find out together on 23 July — the demo lands on this page the same day.
Until then, the smartest preparation is playing the neighbours. An hour in the Pirots 3 demo teaches you the collection engine at its most complex. Thirty minutes in Pirots 4 shows how ELK handles hostile mechanics. Between the two, day one of Pirots 5 will feel familiar rather than overwhelming. All of it doable from the couch tonight, for free.
